Routine appointments

To request a routine appointment, you can:

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with. This means we can understand how urgent your problem is and identify the most suitable doctor, nurse, or health professional to help you. This is under the instruction of our doctors. Our reception team is trained to direct you to the most appropriate service and any information shared with the reception team is treated as strictly confidential and will only be shared with the relevant clinicians.

If you contact us online, we will be in touch within two working days during our opening hours of 8am to 6:30pmMonday to Friday.

Practice nurse appointments can be made by contacting the surgery either by telephone or in person. These cannot be booked online as each appointment may require a different amount of time.

You can also book an appointment to see a GP or nurse on weekday evenings (after 6:30pm) or on the weekend. These appointments will take place at this Practice or at another NHS building nearby. Speak to our reception team to find out more or to book an appointment.

Urgent appointments

If you feel that you require an urgent (same-day) appointment, we ask that you please call us as early as possible on 0151 645 2306.

Types of appointment offered

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you:

  • a face-to-face appointment
  • a phone call or video consultation
  • a text message or email, for example inviting you to visit the surgery for a blood test

Appointments by phone, video call, or by text/email can be more flexible and often mean the doctor or nurse can consult with you sooner.

Home visits

Home visits are available for housebound patients or patients who are too unwell to attend the surgery. We please ask that you call us before 11am on the day so we can accommodate your request. A clinician may call you to ascertain the urgency of the home visit request.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you are unable to attend your appointment, it is important that you let us know as soon as possible so we can offer the appointment to another patient. You can cancel your appointment by calling our reception team, by following the instructions on your text message appointment reminder (if we have your mobile phone number) or via the NHS App. If you wish to change your appointment to another day or time, please call us.

Training Practice

As part of our commitment to medical education, Gladstone Medical Centre has been providing medical education and tuition to medical students from Liverpool University since 1998. In addition, since 2005, we became involve in the training of post-graduate doctors in General Practice, providing both clinical and educational supervision for Foundation Doctors.

These students and doctors spend some time with the GPs, Management staff and the Nursing staff of the practice to learn about different aspects of patient care in a Primary Care setting.

If you do not wish to be seen by a trainee doctor or have medical student present during your consultation, please let reception know upon arrival for your appointment.
